Casa Milà
Passeig de Gràcia
Casa Milà, known as La Pedrera for its rough-hewn stone, was Gaudí's last private commission, built 1906-1912. The undulating facade is an architectural metaphor of the surrounding sea.
Look up at the twisted wrought-iron balconies and the surreal chimneys on the roof — they echo shapes from nature. Best explored in the late afternoon when the rooftop light turns the stone gold.
